Change of Consumer Unit
Update consumer units & outdated fuse boards
New 17th Edition Consumer Unit installation for £399 (new consumer unit included)
Upgrading an old consumer unit (or fuse board) to one incorporating two residual current devices (RCDs) is a job that many people will now have to consider. The 17th edition of the wiring regulations requires most circuits in a domestic property to be protected by an RCD.
It is often better and a much cheaper option to upgrade the consumer unit rather than alter the existing installation in order to comply with the new regulations.
This is notifiable work and the council must be notified. If you enlist the help of us here at MD Bespoke Solutions all of this will be taken care of for you.
A legal requirement to this type of work is that EVERY circuit must be tested fully before being powered up again, this is something that we have the right tools and expertise to carry out for you.
Once the job is finished, you will receive an installation certificate with all the test results shown. For more information on consumer units and how they operate please click here.

Consumer Unit Replacement
From 2001 onwards, all British electrical installations were required to incorporate residual current device (RCD) protection. The main purpose is to make the unit safe when electricity is supplied outdoors. If a fault occurs, the RCD device trips and cuts power.
Even if you don’t have any outdoor sockets, the law says that your consumer unit must feature RCD protection for all cables that are embedded into the wall of the property, with the exception of alarm circuits.
Professional installation is essential to ensure your consumer unit meets the most recent 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
